2 Southern California cities rank among America’s scariest weirdos

The holidays are in full swing, but not every place you go is going to be as fun as others. Recently, financial data media FinanceBuzz analyzed which cities in the United States have the least Christmas activities and holiday activities, and some cities in California showed green.

“The Grinch” – green, that’s it.

To determine the rankings, FinanceBuzz scored the 50 largest U.S. cities based on a variety of holiday-themed factors, including number of department and toy stores, Google Trends searches, and more. Cities are scored out of 100, and the city with the lowest score is considered the “grinniest” city.

San Diego ranked third among fake cities, with FinanceBuzz noting that the Southern California city’s search history shows little interest in vacations. An analysis of Google searches in San Diego found that terms like Christmas party, Christmas holiday and Christmas dinner had some of the lowest search volume in the country.

According to FinanceBuzz, the most Grinch-friendly cities in the United States are:

    Number of holiday markets per 100,000 people: 2.9. Proportion of population donating to charity annually: 43.1%. Holiday score: 32.7/100.

  3. San Diego, California Number of festivals and festivals per 100,000: 80.9.
    Number of holiday markets per 100,000 people: 1.3. Proportion of population donating to charity each year: 53.5%. Holiday score: 34.8/100.
  4. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Number of festivals and festivals per 100,000: 20.3. Number of holiday markets per 100,000 people: 0.6. Proportion of population donating to charity each year: 50.7%. Holiday Score: 35.2/100.

FinanceBuzz also found that Los Angeles is one of the few major cities with lower levels of charitable volunteering year-round.The analysis found that only 24.1% of Angelinos volunteer, one of the five lowest numbers in the United States

What’s more, Riverside was named to FinanceBuzz’s “Naughty List” of cities for charitable giving, with only 39.9% of residents per 100,000 supporting charities during the holidays.

Overall, here’s an analysis of other Texas cities’ vacation scores:

  • Sacramento Vacation Rating: 42.2
  • San Francisco 45.8
  • San Jose 44.0

FinanceBuzz also ranked the “happiest” cities in the United States, with Minneapolis, Minnesota offering the most fun for vacationers. The city ranks among the best when it comes to donations, with 62.1% of residents donating annually and 46% participating in volunteer services year-round, the highest rate of any city.
